No Computer. No Problem.
Regardless of the spins, hedge words, and platitudes that you have been
reading, Windows Vista is going to change the way your Tablet PC, notebook, and desktop looks
and feels. The transparency effects available, changes in folder views,
and search capabilities are just a few of the features waiting for all
of us. And despite Microsoft telling tech enthusiasts not to be
interested (reverse psychology), most everyone who ponders the future
of computing has their thoughts on the Beta 1 of Windows Vista.
But what about the individuals who do not own a computer, how can they
get a glimpse of the future? They can either visit tech enthusiast
sites, wading through tons of verbiage, and screenshots or they can go
to their television set. Yes, you read that correctly. You can see the
changes on your television.
Let me backup and explain. My sister called me last night. She
said, “Layne, turn on your television and go to the weather channel.”
She was laughing and carrying on. Being the clever person I am, I spent
a few minutes looking under seat cushions for the remote and finally
figured out how to turn the television channel to 11. Sure enough, she
was right.
The future of Windows Vista Glass is right on the screen – for all
of us to see and enjoy. The weather channel has it all: overlapping
windows, the transparency, and even the clouds in the background. Check
it out and see for yourself.
This new view of Windows Vista got the jokes started. Were the
developers bored and needed something to spark their interests? So,
they watched the weather channel - Uh huh. Maybe they were looking for
the ski reports. Sure, sure. We will accept that as an answer. Ah, how
clever of the developers to borrow from another company (snicker).
